In Her Words - A Normandy Adventure
A perfect bilingual British native from the Anglo-Norman island of Jersey, and in France since a long time, I’m settled since 20 years in Normandy, where I’ve lived in all the main cities.
I became a tour guide after feeling that all the aspects of the trade were a perfect fit to my temperament: travel, communication and culture. Culture including many facets: history, geography, art and architecture, popular culture, cuisine and more.
I’m starting to master well the main Norman sites after many years guiding on them, namely the outstanding incomparable Mont Saint Michel; the D-Day Beaches, beautiful beaches in themselves and bearing witness to that terrible period which was WW2; beautiful history-packed cities such as Rouen, Caen, le Havre. The geologically beautiful Etretat, charming Honfleur, Monet’s House in Giverny.
Then there are less well-known places but well worth the detour: the basilica of Sainte Thérèse in Lisieux, Veules-les-Roses, Dieppe. Normandy cuisine is quite succulent, namely the cheese and apple produce. A visit to a Calvados distillery is often a part of a day tour.
